Some of my greatest joys in life are hearing participants report things like that they have started a regular sitting practice, improved relationships, upped work productivity, quit addictions, and/or are happier than ever.  I consider it an honor and a pleasure to relate to people through meditation teaching, and I love sharing with others the blessings that I have found through meditation.  I think some of my strengths as a teacher are humor, relatable references to some of the more personal sides of being human, and quick insight into the deeper meaning of student’s questions.

I began teaching meditation in 2002, and since then I have led thousands of sitting group sessions, classes, events, and interviews to tens of thousands of participants.  My teaching is informed by Shinzen Young's teachings, Zen and Theravada Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta, Western psychology and philosophy, and my years as a participant and teacher in “authentic relating” communities.  I have meditated daily since 1989, and lived for four years in monasteries in the USA, India, Japan, and Thailand.

Depth and Liberation

Tuesdays 10-11pm ET / 4-5am CET

My sitting group aims to help participants to ground into presence and openness, develop self-friendliness, experience life with greater richness, and let our deep selves untangle. I lead guided meditation for different traditional and modern techniques that will help us bring balanced, spacious, and clear awareness to our breath, body sensations, thoughts, and emotions.

Structure of the group: I explain the meditation technique, I guide a calming and deepening twenty-five minute mindfulness meditation, then a shorter positivity practice (gratitude, forgiveness, positive visualizations), and then we finish up with lively discussion of participant's experiences. Sessions are designed to be useful for people with some experience in meditation as well as beginners.
